When booking a yacht charter your broker will present you with two options...half-board or full-board. You may wonder what that even means, how it refelcts in the pricing and which one is best for you. I am going to go over all those points. And if you prefer to watch instead of read, Austen and I posted a video just on that!

Half-board typically includes breakfast and either lunch or dinner onboard, leaving you free to explore local dining options for the other meal. This setup is perfect for those who crave a balance between onboard dining and culinary adventures onshore. If you want or need help picking the best places to eat ashore or making those reservations your Captain and Crew will assist you in that. Half-board prices are also lower, to refelct the fewer meals eaten on the yacht.
Advantages of Half-Board:
Why Choose Half-Board?
If you're someone who loves the idea of discovering hidden gems and local specialties, half-board is the way to go. It’s also a great choice if you plan on spending ample time ashore, exploring the culture and cuisine of your destinations.
Full-board includes all meals onboard, prepared by your private chef. From breakfast to dinner, you're covered. This option is ideal for those who prefer the convenience of dining onboard or who wish to fully immerse themselves in the luxury of their yacht experience. Just because you choose full-board it doesn't mean you will never see shore! I think full-board is the better of the two options, since you have a private chef, and meals can be upwards of $100 per person in places like the USVI or the BVI, full-board could come out to be more economical in the end. If you do go the full-board way, you can still go enjoy all the amazing beach bars or restaurants and grab a drink and an appetizer—or two!
Advantages of Full-Board:
Why Choose Full-Board?
If your idea of a perfect vacation is indulging in fine dining without ever leaving your yacht, full-board is your best bet. It’s also a fantastic option for those who prefer privacy and a more intimate dining setting, away from the crowds.
Your choice between half-board and full-board ultimately depends on your travel style and culinary preferences. Here are some scenarios to help guide your decision:
